Morocco: A Health Prevention Project for Berber Women

In the course of its humanitarian activities, the Pobic association has gained experience in various African contexts: from Uganda to the Ivory Coast, and up to Morocco.

Right in this latter country, thanks to knowledge of the area and collaboration with local organizations, it was possible to launch a more structured and targeted health prevention project.

A project in the heart of Southern Morocco

The initiative focused on southern Morocco, a fascinating and complex region where economic progress still coexists with profound social inequalities. Despite the considerable progress made in recognizing women's rights, access to adequate health services for the most isolated populations remains limited. In particular, the project was aimed at Berber women living in villages bordering the Sahara Desert, a remote area where living conditions are often extremely harsh and medical assistance is scarce.

Focus on prevention and women's health

The decision to direct the project toward Berber women stems from the awareness that, in these contexts, women are often the ones who bear the greatest burden of healthcare deficiencies.

Intervene on the prevention means not only improving individual health, but also strengthening the entire community, given the central role that women play in Berber society.

The planned activities included:

  • Health awareness on the main women's health issues.

  • Prevention education of communicable diseases and chronic conditions.

  • Promotion of access to basic checkups and prenatal care.

Morocco: a challenge between tradition and modernity

He Morocco, country of Maghreb experiencing strong economic growth, it still has to balance its development with the need to make progress accessible to all segments of the population.
Particularly in rural and desert areas, where Berber communities keep centuries-old traditions alive, essential services — including healthcare — struggle to arrive.

Through the activated project, Fistfight he chose to operate where the need is greatest, promoting the right to health as a fundamental condition for real human and social progress.
