It was the May 2012 when a small group of people gathered around a table in Bozzolo, in the province of Mantua. They came from different professional backgrounds, but shared a conviction that seemed almost countercurrent in those years of crisis: Is it possible to build a company where solidarity is not an accessory, but the very engine of its operation?.

We didn't just want to talk about values. We wanted to put them into practice, every day, transforming attention towards those on the margins into concrete opportunities for work and dignity. We were thinking especially of Two categories of people that the traditional job market tends to exclude: those who carry fragility or difficult paths, and those who – after working a lifetime – find themselves past fifty with no space left, suddenly considered “too old” to start over.

From that insight, it was born Emergency Transport POBIC, a social cooperative that has come a long way in twelve years. We have gone through changes, adaptations, and transformations – not least of which was in 2024, when we transitioned from a Type B cooperative to Type A cooperative, recognizing the centrality that personal services had taken on in our daily work.

We specialize in two areas that are particularly close to our heartshealthcare transport – because we know how important it is to guarantee everyone, especially the elderly and vulnerable, access to care – and the reception of international protection applicants, because we believe that welcoming means building communities, not just offering a place to sleep.

But beyond the activities, the numbers, the balance sheets, there is one thing that has never changed since 2012: Putting people at the center. Always. Not as a slogan, but as a daily choice.
