Social Cooperative
EMERGENCY TRANSPORT PUBLIC

WHO WE ARE

It was the May 2012 when a small group of people gathered around a table in Bozzolo, in the province of Mantua. They came from different professional backgrounds, but shared a conviction that seemed almost countercurrent in those years of crisis: Is it possible to build a company where solidarity is not an accessory, but the very engine of its operation?.

We didn't just want to talk about values. We wanted to put them into practice, every day, transforming attention towards those on the margins into concrete opportunities for work and dignity. We were thinking especially of Two categories of people that the traditional job market tends to exclude: those who carry fragility or difficult paths, and those who – after working a lifetime – find themselves past fifty with no space left, suddenly considered “too old” to start over.

From that insight, it was born Emergency Transport POBIC, a social cooperative that has come a long way in twelve years. We have gone through changes, adaptations, and transformations – not least of which was in 2024, when we transitioned from a Type B cooperative to Type A cooperative, recognizing the centrality that personal services had taken on in our daily work.

We specialize in two areas that are particularly close to our heartshealthcare transport – because we know how important it is to guarantee everyone, especially the elderly and vulnerable, access to care – and the reception of international protection applicants, because we believe that welcoming means building communities, not just offering a place to sleep.

But beyond the activities, the numbers, the balance sheets, there is one thing that has never changed since 2012: Putting people at the center. Always. Not as a slogan, but as a daily choice.

THE VALUES

Solidarity and mutual aid

For us, a cooperative is not just a legal structure: it's a way of being together. We share responsibilities, decisions, and results. No one is just an employee or just a business owner: We are partners, ...and that makes all the difference. It means looking each other in the eye, listening, deciding together which path to take.

Primacy of the person

Every person we encounter—whether they are a partner, an employee, someone we transport in an ambulance, or someone we welcome into our facilities— it is not a number. It has a history, it has needs, it has potential. Our task is to recognize and value them. Always.

Professionalism

Solidarity without competence risks being just good intentions. That is why we constantly invest in training of our operators. Because we want those who trust us to receive not only human attention, but also quality services, performed by well-prepared people.

Territorial roots

We didn't fall from the sky or appear out of nowhere. We were born here, in the provinces of Mantua, Cremona, and Brescia. We know this territory, its institutions, and its communities. Let's build relationships, not just contracts. Because we believe that only by deeply rooting oneself in a place can one truly contribute to improving it.

OUR MISSION

To pursue the general interest of the community through the human promotion and social integration of citizens.

It's written in our bylaws, but for us it's not an abstract formula. It means that every day we get up thinking: how can we be useful? Who can we lend a hand to? How can we turn a need into an opportunity?

We are not a company that just provides services. We are a social cooperative, and this word – social – weighs heavily on us. It means that our success is not measured solely by our balance sheet (which must also be sustainable, to be able to continue existing), but by our ability to generate value for peopleThose who work with us, those who receive our services, the community that surrounds us.

Work, for us, is not just a salary. It is dignity, redemption, the chance to start over. And this belief guides our every choice.

What are we doing

Every day, our operators move through the streets of Lombardy's provinces and the rooms of our reception facilities. They do so professionally, of course, but also with that dose of humanity that makes the difference between “performing a duty” and “caring.”.

Our cooperative operates on two complementary fronts, which only apparently are distant. In reality, they both respond to the same need: to be there for those who are most vulnerable, in a time of need.

Emergency Medical Transport

There are those who need to get to the hospital for life-saving therapy. Those who need dialysis three times a week. Those who, simply, can no longer move on their own and need to be accompanied to a medical visit.

Our service Ambulance transport It was created to address these concrete, everyday needs, but they are no less important for that. We operate in the provinces of Mantua, Cremona, and Brescia, in close collaboration with local ATS (Local Health Protection Agencies), ensuring scheduled and urgent transfers.

We don't just take someone from point A to point B. We accompany people, often elderly, often alone, often frightened. And during those journeys – which for us are routine, but for them can be moments of great fragility – we try to be not just professional, but also reassuring and present.

We have equipped vehicles and trained personnel. But above all, we have the awareness that behind every call there is a person who relies on us. And for us, that makes all the difference.

Welcome international protection applicants

When a person arrives in our country seeking protection, they bring with them an often painful story, a baggage of fears, but also—always—a hope: that of being able to start over in a safe place.

Our business of Reception of international protection applicants was born precisely to respond to this hope. We participate in public tenders from the Prefectures of Mantua, Cremona, and Brescia, managing facilities where we don't just “host,” but rather we try to Accompany towards autonomy.

What does this mean concretely? It means teaching Italian. It means guiding people to local services – from healthcare to transportation, from social services to educational opportunities. It means helping them understand how the country they've arrived in works, what their rights and duties are, and how to navigate it all to build a life for themselves.

For us, welcoming means building bridges.. Bridges between diverse cultures, between people who don't know each other, between those who have arrived and those who were already here. It's not always easy. But we deeply believe that integration is possible, and that it happens through concrete, everyday actions, often small but decisive.

Whether it's accompanying an elderly person to the hospital or teaching Italian to newcomers, the common thread is the same: transforming solidarity into concrete, daily, professional action. Because for us, values aren't proclaimed. They are practiced.
