Ukraine: our entire history from the beginning to today
Our mission in Ukraine did not begin with the outbreak of war, nor to respond to a sudden emergency. It is a story with deep roots, made of encounters, small steps, and relationships built over the years. A story we want to tell you, from the beginning to the present day.
2005: the first steps in Krasnograd
It was 2005 when Pobic first crossed the Ukrainian borders. The destination was Krasnograd, a town in the Kharkiv oblast of eastern Ukraine. In a context marked by poverty and hardship, we found vibrant, dignified communities eager to build a better future.
Our first intervention was simple yet fundamental: direct support for families in difficulty, with a particular focus on those with disabled children. There were no great resources, but there was a full commitment to being there, to supporting these families with concrete and continuous assistance.
2008: Training to resist in Lviv
In 2008, we understood that helping also meant build skills. So, in collaboration with’Yosypovych University in Lviv, we organized courses of nursing care e Management of Severe Trauma.
In an era still relatively stable for the country, investing in the training of healthcare personnel meant strengthening a fragile yet essential network, capable of responding to ordinary and extraordinary emergencies.
2005–2025: the long friendship with Nemirov
At the same time, in that same year 2005, one of the most enduring projects took shape: the support for the Nekrasov orphanage in Nemirov, in the Vinnytsia oblast. Year after year, we brought essentials, educational material e toys to the children hosted in the facility.
Not only that. We also organize programs of summer reception for children suffering from dermatological and osteo-skeletal pathologies, offering them care and wellness stays in Italy with supportive families.
The Nemirov mission, which is still active, is the most vivid testimony of our constant and silent commitment.
Since 2022: Ukraine at war, a new emergency
When, in 2022, broke out the war in Ukraine, everything changed. The’Ukraine emergency it exploded in a devastating way and, with it, the needs of the population.
We didn't back down: We organized humanitarian convoys, distributing medications, clothing, food and emergency supplies to the displaced populations. We have strengthened our presence, trying to offer not only material but also human support.
2023: an ambulance to save lives
In 2023, a dramatic incident required an immediate response from us. In Nemirov, the only available ambulance was destroyed by a Russian missile fragment.
In response, we have donating a new ambulance, coming from Italy, fully operational, which gave hope back to an entire community. On board, we also loaded clothes and medicines, delivered thanks to the determination of the president of Pobic Ukraine, Mykola Segeda.
2024: Strengthening Healthcare, Building the Future
In 2024, our intervention was further strengthened: we I am donating a second ambulance to the Vinnytsia region and launched programs of health training emergency management specification in a war context.
A fundamental step to guarantee not only means, but also skills, so that those experiencing the conflict on the front line can count on adequate resources.
Today: the mission continues
Twenty years since the beginning of our mission in Ukraine, we know that every intervention has built something: a network of solidarity, tangible support, a possible future even in the darkest moments.
