Jeremiah and Perl, children with heart surgery thanks to Pobic

Jeremiah Earl and Perl are two children who arrived from Uganda with a concrete hope: to be able to receive the necessary treatment to face a serious heart condition.

 

Thanks to POBIC's commitment, both underwent heart surgery in Italy and today they represent a new testament to what solidarity can make possible when it becomes organization, care, and continuity.

 

Their stories are not isolated incidents. Jeremiah and Perl are, in fact, the 97th and 98th children accompanied by POBIC on a life-saving care journey. A milestone that speaks to years of work, international relationships, collaboration with specialized healthcare facilities, and a constant presence alongside children and their families. In total, throughout its activity, POBIC has cared for 423 children, a number that provides a concrete measure of the depth of a commitment built over time.

Solidarity boxes in Verona: 1,000 merchants supporting POBIC

Behind every surgery, there isn't just an operating room. There's a network of people, communities, and small daily gestures that, over time, make something extraordinary possible. A fundamental role is also played by the approximately 1,000 Veronese shopkeepers who have hosted POBIC's donation boxes for twenty years.

 

Bars, shops, and local businesses thus become vibrant hubs of widespread solidarity, places where even a small contribution can turn into something enormous: a trip, a surgical procedure, a new chance at life.

 

It is precisely this silent and concrete network that makes POBIC's work possible. Solidarity, when shared and preserved over time, ceases to be an abstract concept and becomes a force capable of crossing borders, distances, and difficulties.

Thoughts and Colors: educating for solidarity in schools

Alongside its healthcare commitment, POBIC continues to promote paths of education for solidarity aimed at new generations. The project fits into this direction Thoughts and Colors, the educational competition for schools that invites children and teenagers to tell, through drawing, values such as mutual help, happiness, and caring for others.

 

The connection between the stories of Jeremiah and Pearl and the involvement of schools makes POBIC's mission even clearer: not only to intervene where there is an urgent need for care, but to contribute to building a culture of solidarity capable of growing over time and involving communities, families, students, and territories.

 

Saving a life also means educating for care. And every gesture, no matter how small, can become part of a larger story.
