2023 – Mission to Ukraine in Nemirov: an ambulance to start again

There was only one ambulance left for the entire city of Nemirov, in Ukraine. Then, one day in 2023, there weren't even those anymore.

A fragment of a Russian missile — partially demolished, but not enough — it directly struck the only available emergency vehicle. A silent tragedy, perhaps unnoticed elsewhere, but which for a small community like Nemirov meant losing the last chance for emergency transport, the only means to save lives. A blow to the heart, in the middle of a war in Ukraine that wears away the social and healthcare fabric of the country every day.

When concrete answers are needed

We didn't need to think about it for long. As Pobic, committed for years with numerous missions in Ukraine, we knew what to do. Good intentions weren't enough, an ambulance was needed. Right away.

 

We thus decided, as an emergency measure, to donate a vehicle decommissioned in Italy, no longer used for local rescue operations but still fully functional. Thus began a new mission in Ukraine: discreet, concrete, full of humanity and essential tools.

Much more inside that ambulance

That ambulance, driven by Pobic Ukraine president Mikola Segeda, was not just carrying a technical solution. We wanted it to be a tangible sign that someone, from afar, is listening and responding.

On board were clothes, medicines, and basic necessities, collected thanks to the generosity of those who, even from afar, have not forgotten the Ukrainian people.

Everything was loaded by hand, piece by piece, just like you do with the things that truly matter.

Beyond the emergency, continuity

The mission in Ukraine, in Nemyriv, does not end with a single delivery. It is part of an effort that has accompanied us for years, made of silent interventions, small logistical miracles, and relationships built on the ground. The Ukrainian emergency has shown how fragile even the most basic infrastructure can be. But it has also shown how resilient a proud community can be when supported.
