In the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC),<\/span> The provinces of North and South Kivu have been experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis for years, determined by prolonged armed conflict and the advance of the M23 rebel group.<\/b>. The situation has further deteriorated in recent years, with an intensification of fighting between the M23 and the Congolese government forces, particularly in <\/span>Rutshuru and Lubero areas in North Kivu<\/b>, <\/span>up to reaching border zones with South Kivu<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>

This <\/span>escalation of violence has caused one of the largest population displacements in Africa<\/b>, with thousands of people forced to abandon their homes to escape clashes, suffer violence, and face daily insecurity.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The crisis has amplified the vulnerability of local communities, worsening difficulties in accessing basic services, fueling food insecurity, and creating significant pressure on humanitarian aid systems.

It is in this context that the needs assessment conducted by POBIC Uganda and Oxfam Uganda is situated, aimed at understanding the living conditions of Congolese refugees and host communities in Uganda.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Rapid Needs Assessment in major refugee settlements.\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The activity involves Rapid Needs Assessments in the main refugee settlements in Uganda.<\/strong>, with the goal of To understand the needs of refugees and host communities directly and in a structured manner.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

The project focuses on some of the country\u2019s most significant refugee settlements, which together house more than 371,000 refugees, broken down as follows:<\/span>
<\/span>
150,000 refugees in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

129,000 refugees approximately in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement<\/span><\/p>

3) 92,000 refugees in the Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement <\/span>

<\/span>About 60% of the refugee population is under 18 years of age.\u00a0\u00a0

<\/span>Through direct meetings with refugees and local stakeholders, the joint work of POBIC Uganda and Oxfam Uganda aims to gather qualitative and quantitative information<\/strong> Super User<\/span><\/p>
