Paolo Novellini<\/b> e <b>Father Frederick Tusingire<\/b>, President of the Rwenzori East Neighbors Association (RENA), former President of the Laity Apostolate for the Uganda Episcopal Conference.\n\nThe main objectives of <b>RENA Foundation<\/b>, born in 2000, I am:\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fc1ac8d elementor-align-start elementor-list-item-link-full_width elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-list\" data-id=\"fc1ac8d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" exploratory delegation to the Rwenzori Region, Uganda.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p><p>Mission objective: to understand the reality of the territory, to delve into the problems and needs for a possible intervention, to verify the conditions of existing health facilities and the preparedness of currently active personnel.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Following this exploratory mission, Pobic signed a Cooperation Agreement with the RENA Foundation, aimed at developing healthcare cooperation projects through the supply of equipment and personnel training.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>By virtue of this Agreement, the Foundation has proposed to our Association that we develop a project beneficial for the treatment of tropical ulcers and sores, particularly the so-called \u201cBuruli ulcer\u201d which, due to many complications, including debilitating ones, has a significant social impact in the Rwenzori Community.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Pobic decides to launch the \u201cOzone Therapy - Uganda\u201d Project, to be developed over six years, and identifies the Mayohoro village Health Dispensary as the first facility to partner with for the installation of an \u201cOzone Therapy\u201d clinic.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Thanks to its properties, ozone, which has exceptional bactericidal and virucidal powers, is of great utility precisely in areas like the Ugandan forest where patients arriving at the dispensary are affected by sores of such severity as to often require hospitalization.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The objectives of this project are:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>the treatment of Buruli ulcer or other tropical sores and ulcers, avoiding the practice of \u201csurgical curettage\u201d;<\/p><p>the reduction of complications due to scar contractures and functional impotence in patients;<\/p><p>the improvement of the social impact of the disease, from the perspective of restoring the patient's functional abilities, pain-free treatment, and cost reduction;<\/p><p>the implementation of an intervention, requested by the concerned Community, to improve the quality of local health services;<\/p><p>Training of medical and paramedical personnel in the use of the supplied equipment.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In March 2018, a delegation from the Pobic Association, led by President Novellini, along with a delegation from the Intermed Onlus Association, led by Dr. Antonella Bertolotti, traveled to Uganda to set up an ozone therapy clinic at the Mayohoro Dispensary.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The equipment, intended for generating medical ozone, was previously purchased by our association and transported to the Therapy Ozone Therapy The project originated from a meeting between Pobic President Paolo Novellini, Esq., and Father Frederick Tusingire, President of the Rwenzory East Neighbors Association (RENA) and former President of the Pastoral Care for the Laity for the Ugandan Bishops\u201c Conference. The main objectives of the RENA Foundation, established in 2000, are: to promote projects aimed at reducing poverty in the Rwenzori Region and surrounding areas; to support community development by launching and overseeing cooperation projects focused on health, education, agriculture, and livestock farming, as well as by developing projects for local businesses, including those dedicated to microfinance and water supply systems; raising awareness among local communities about the need for and potential to achieve better living standards and to increase individual responsibility and social justice. Become a Volunteer CLICK HERE FOR THE PROJECT At the suggestion of the RENA Foundation, in 2017 Pobic sent an exploratory delegation to the Rwenzori Region in Uganda.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The mission\u2019s objectives were to gain an understanding of the local situation, examine the challenges and needs for a potential intervention, and assess the condition of existing healthcare facilities and the preparedness of current staff. \u00a0 Following this exploratory mission, Pobic signed a collaboration agreement with the RENA Foundation, aimed at developing healthcare cooperation projects through the provision of equipment and staff training. \u00a0 Under this agreement, the Foundation proposed to our Association that we develop a project focused on the treatment of tropical ulcers and sores, particularly the so-called \u201dBuruli ulcer,\u201c which, due to its many complications\u2014some of which are disabling\u2014has a significant social impact on the Rwenzori community. \u00a0 Pobic has decided to launch the \u201dOzone Therapy \u2013 Uganda\u201c Project, to be carried out over a six-year period, and has identified the health clinic in the village of Mayohoro as the first facility to serve as a base for the establishment of an \u201dozone therapy\u201c clinic. \u00a0 Thanks to its properties\u2014ozone possesses exceptional bactericidal and virucidal powers\u2014it is extremely useful precisely in areas such as the Ugandan forest, where patients arriving at the clinic suffer from sores so severe that they often require hospitalization. \u00a0 The objectives of this project are:   the treatment of Buruli ulcer and other tropical sores and ulcers, avoiding the practice of \u201dsurgical curettage\u201c; the reduction of complications resulting from scarring and functional impairment in patients; to improve the social impact of the disease by restoring patients\u201d functional abilities, ensuring pain-free treatment, and reducing costs; to implement an initiative, requested by the affected community, to improve the quality of local health services; training of medical and paramedical staff in the use of the supplied equipment.   In March 2018, a delegation from the Pobic Association, led by President Novellini, together with a delegation from the Intermed Onlus Association, led by Dr. Antonella Bertolotti, traveled to Uganda to set up an ozone therapy clinic at the Mayohoro Dispensary. \u00a0 The equipment, designed to generate medical-grade ozone, had previously been purchased by our association and transported to the site. Activities: supply of equipment designed to generate medical-grade ozone, purchased by our association and transported to the site; sessions on the properties of ozone and its use in medicine, with particular emphasis on its powerful bactericidal properties\u2014which are especially valuable in areas such as the Ugandan forest, where a significant number of people suffer from sores so severe that they require hospitalization; training of medical and paramedical staff in the use of the supplied equipment, including a description of the device and instructions for its maintenance; training in the treatment of Buruli ulcer and other tropical sores and ulcers, avoiding the practice of \u201csurgical curettage\u201d and the complications it can entail, including functional impairment of the limbs; establishment of an international partnership with the Rena Foundation (Uganda) in collaboration with Intermed Onlus (Italy); supply of a newly designed medical ozone generator to the clinic in the village of Mayohoro, managed by the Rena Foundation; training for one physician and four nurses responsible for managing the ozone therapy clinic; initiation of treatment for 11 patients, which began during the training course; during 2018, the Ugandan healthcare staff independently and successfully treated an additional 29 patients, thereby avoidinghospitalization and surgical procedures; initiation of a process to reduce the social impact on the Rowenzory community linked to the consequences of Buruli ulcer.
