After a long wait on Tuesday June the second took place the first edition of Pobic’s football race between four Italian football teams under 15 in a town near Cremona named San Giovanni in Croce.

Looking at the matches there were also Kotingo, Opukumo e Sampson with their mothers. After their hospital treatment in Gaslini clinic in Genova there are all hosted into the house that Pobic has set up for them in Bozzolo (Mantova) and on Tuesday they were in San Giovanni in Croce to meet Pobic’s community.

Unfortunately one of our kids missed: it was Yusuf, who is still in hospital since he must remain under observation because his clinical picture turned out to be very different and much more severe than projected by Nigerian doctors; he is also affected by a brain abscess that greatly complicates the possibility of successful conclusion of the intervention to the heart. We hope to soon welcome him among us!

At the race we received even the greeting from high Nigerian representatives who gave the prizes to the winners: our hosts were Mrs Elisabeth Aworabhi, the wife of the ambassador of Nigeria in Italy, accompanied by Embassy’s leaders and chiefs Mrs Agatha Nonye Afokeli and Mr Kehinde Duroti. They were welcomed by town’s Major Mr Pierguido Asinari and by Pobis’s President Mr Paolo Novelini.

Their presence had a very important meaning: it symbolized that Nigerian Authorities appreciated what Pobic’s is going to do in that country and for us it is a great form of support. Pobic’s Italian delegation will be in Nigeria at the end of July, to meet the children and the families we help and to develop our ongoings and news solidarity projects.
